The population of the City of Cullman is approximately 13,972. Cullman is centrally located between Huntsville and Birmingham. Founded in 1873 by a German immigrant named Col. John Gottfried Cullmann, the city government consists of a Mayor and a five-member City Council who are elected by popular vote to serve concurrent four-year terms.
